Nithya Subramanian

Another focus area for DCA Metropolis will be tele-radiology, wherein it will try to get hospitals in the US and the UK to outsource its radiological reports to India.

New Delhi , Aug. 21

METROPOLIS Health Services (India) Pvt Ltd is expanding its business beyond pathology to radiology. The company has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with the Delhi-based Diwan Chand Satyapal Aggarwal (DCA) Imaging Research Centre to foray into this segment.

Called DCA Metropolis, the company aims at offering complete diagnostics solutions. According to Dr G.S.K Velu, Managing Director, Metropolis, "Initially we will be operating in Delhi, through three centres. The expertise in radiology will later be extended to other centres such as Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore." He said that an initial investment of Rs 12 crore is being made.

"We also want other hospitals in the Capital to use our diagnostic centres," said Mr Ajay Aggarwal, Managing Director, DCA Imaging. Opportunities in Noida and Gurgaon will also be explored.

Currently, it is working towards setting up a chain of collection centres across the city.

The joint venture also has plans to expand into other markets in the South Asian, South East Asia and West Asian regions. "Currently Metropolis has presence in Dubai and we will look at aggressively expanding in the international market where we could either set up labs for hospitals or manage their existing facilities for them," Dr Velu added.

Another focus area for DCA Metropolis will be tele-radiology, wherein it will try to get hospitals in the US and the UK to outsource its radiological reports to India.

"We have already set up representative offices in the UK and the US. We will have to look at the regulatory framework and have radiologists certified by the American diagnostic regulators," said Dr Velu.

The third segment that the venture will target is the home services segment. This will target those who are unable to visit a diagnostic centre for pathological needs.
