Kolkata , Aug. 24

TVS Motor Company Ltd hopes to record a 15-16 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in fiscal 2004-05. In 2003-04, the company sold over 7.12 lakh motorcycles, a spokesperson said.

The company manufactures and markets three models of the 150-cc TVS Fiero, two variants of the TVS Victor in the 110-cc and 125-cc category and the 100-cc TVS Centra. It also manufactures the Scooty and the Scooty Pep.

The spokesperson was here for a press conference on the `TVS Fiero FX - OutThere Adventurers World Record Challenge' expedition.

The spokesperson said TVS Motor would continue to be associated with initiatives that would help in showcasing the sturdiness of motorcycles manufactured by the company. Recently, it provided six TVS Fiero FX motorcycles to bike enthusiasts, who set a new world record by crossing four of the world's highest motorable passes, including the 18,652-ft-high Marsimik La. "The TVS Fiero FX is the first bike to touch the world's highest roads and touch all the four passes within a time span of 24 hours," the spokesperson said.

The leader of the six-member team, Mr Chandan Lahiri of OutThere Adventurers, said the Feiro FX bikes had lived up to the expectations of the team members in difficult and rugged terrain.
