Human Resources 24/7 to ramp up staff strength, eyes buys Raja Simhan T.E.
Chennai , Aug. 24 24/7 Customer, a business process outsourcing firm, will increase its employee strength to 6,500 in India by this fiscal-endfrom 3,500. The US-headquartered company that provides voice and e-mail-based customer support services and solutions from India will also see its revenues almost double to about $60 million by the end of the fiscal, according to Mr S. Nagarajan, founder and Chief Operating Officer, 24/7 Customer. "Our target is to become a $100 million company in the next two to three years," he said. In the next round of infrastructure creation in India, the company plans a centre in Chennaiand in Hyderabad. This is in addition to the existing three centres in Bangalore and one in Hyderabad, he told Business Line. The Chennai centre is still in the design stage. At present, 3,200 employees work in Bangalore, and about 300 in Hyderabad. Starting with 20 people, 24/7 Customer was one of the first BPO companies to be set up in India in April 2000. In June 2003, the company received a $22 million funding from Sequoia Capital, a US-based venture capital firm that has also been a founding investor in companies such as Cisco Systems, Yahoo! and Apple Computer, he said. The company plans to acquire a firm in Europe or South-East Asia, and has shortlisted three firms for a possible acquisition. The company has earmarked $10 million to $15 million for the acquisition, and the costs would be met from the funding it received from Sequoia Capital, said Mr Nagarajan.
