Announcements Marketing - New Products & Services TVS to launch entry-level bike this month-end Our Bureau
New Delhi , Sept. 2 TWO-WHEELER manufacturer TVS Motor is set to launch an entry-level motorcycle `TVS Star' by the end of this month and has earmarked an investment of about Rs 200 crore towards new product development this fiscal. The company is also planning to set up a manufacturing subsidiary in South-East Asia, though it is yet to zero in on the exact country. "The `TVS Star' is ready for the launch and will hit the roads by the month-end. We are also going to pump in Rs 200 crore for new products," said Mr Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor. The new motorcycle will be manufactured at the company's Hosur (Tamil Nadu) plant. TVS hopes to improve its market share in the entry-level motorcycle segment to 33 per cent with the new launch. The company is launching TVS Star after phasing out its two-stroke entry-level Max range of motorcycles. TVS will also firm up a plan to establish a manufacturing subsidiary, which is most likely to come up in Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam.
