Hyderabad , Sept. 14

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked his Tamil Nadu counterpart, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, to depute a technical team to explore the best options available for the supply of water to Chennai.

He was responding to Ms Jayalalithaa's letter of September 10 requesting supply of 15 TMC of water from Srisailam to Chennai.

Dr Reddy said, "As mentioned in my previous letter, the water levels in Kandaleru and Somasila are far below the minimum drawdown level. However, the technical team of the State Government is visiting the Kandaleru reservoir on September 15 once again to assess the feasibility of supply of water to Chennai."
