IN a bid to regulate and offer hassle-free clearances for digging of borewells, the State Government will launch a single-window scheme at the mandal level.
The scheme, which also provides insurance cover, will allow farmers to get clearances in just 15 days. "It is the responsibility of mandal level authorities (Mandal Revenue Officer) to examine issues such a feasibility for status of groundwater as well as power supply," Mr D. Srinivas, Minister for Rural Development, said.
The farmers, however, needed to pay a fee of Rs 500 (small and marginal farmers) and Rs 1,000 (farmers with larger land holdings) towards site survey charges for geological clearance. They also needed to pay Rs 1,000 towards insurance premium.
The single window would also accord permissions for borewells at residential premises. The Government also proposed to get information on all the borewells in the State.
He said a dedicated Web site on the AP Water, Land and Trees Act would be opened shortly. This site will provide all the information on the Act, the Minister said.
