Stage and state of crops: Harvesting of the `Virippu' crop and sowing and transplanting of the `Mundakan' crop are in progress in paddy. Weeding and application of fertiliser and green manure continue in coconut and arecanut. Top dressing operations are apace in ginger and turmeric. Farm advisory: Paddy fields should be drained 10 days prior to harvest in the `Virippu' crop. In pepper gardens, spraying of one per cent Bordeaux mixture is recommended to control wilt and `pollu' diseases.
