Corporation Bank opens 750th branch in Mumbai

THE Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, Mr Cherian Varghese, inaugurated the 750th branch of the bank at Phoenix Mills compound, Lower Parel, in Mumbai on Saturday.

Mr Ashok Kumar Ruia, Managing Director of Phoenix Mills Ltd., inaugurated the 750th ATM of the bank on the occasion.

A bank release said here that with this the bank has achieved a unique combination of 750 branches and 750 ATMs. It is the only public sector bank to have equal number of branches and ATMs. The release said that the bank has 149 service outlets — comprising 59 computerised branches, six extension counters and 83 networked ATMs — in Mumbai.

At present, 236 branches of the bank are "live" on Core Banking Solution.

The bank, which opened 28 branches during the current financial year, has plans to open 32 more. It is proposed to take the number of ATMs progressively to 1,010 by the end of financial year 2004-05, the release added.
