Our Bureau

Mumbai , Sept. 27

DOES India Inc prefer France as an investment destination? According to a French Government-sponsored study, Indian pharma, IT and automobile firms have shown interest in investing in France.

The study conducted by the Mumbai-based Mega Ace Consultancy, on behalf of Invest in France Agency, indicated that Indian companies in these sectors are keen on acquiring existing business or setting up joint ventures in France. Besides these three sectors, auto ancillaries and engineering sectors also show a certain degree of inclination towards investing in France, the study said.

Invest in France is the nodal agency promoting foreign investments in France. The study was conducted prior to the visit of Ms Clara Gaymard , President, Invest in France Agency, to India last week. Ms Gaymard, who is also special representative of France for international investment, met several top Indian industrialists in Mumbai.

According to the study, the emerging trend in India is that corporates are trying to be closer to their overseas markets through strategic acquisitions. They want to leverage on the low-cost manufacturing capabilities through outsourcing.
