Kochi , Sept. 27

THE Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation Ltd (KITCO), established by IDBI and the State Government, has performed well during 2003-04 by achieving a turnover of Rs 3.63 crore.

The company has also been able to maintain its profitability and a dividend has been declared for the 7th year in succession, Mr V. Janakiraman, Chairman of KITCO, said in a press statement issued here.

The company completed the construction of five railway over bridges and they were opened for traffic during the year despite many hurdles and delays in acquisition of land and getting statutory permission.

The construction of a new bridge across Kundhi River at Pulamanthole in Malappuram for the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation has also been completed during the year within a record period of 15 months.

In the industrial infrastructure sector, KITCO has been active in revamping the power distribution system and providing additional infrastructure facilities in the Cochin Special Economic Zone.

The consultancy services were extended for the construction of a 5-storeyed standard design factory, setting up of a water supply system with a capacity of 1.5 million litres per day, development of other civil infrastructure like development of roads, landscaping works and 110 KV substation.

In the field of HRD, the company has started a programme of skill certification for accreditation of technicians, who did not have formal education or training.
