Moderate gains in spot rubber

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Sept. 28

SPOT rubber prices continued to register moderate gains on Tuesday. Quantum purchase orders from all sectors including the exporters boosted the market sentiments amidst low arrivals.

RSS 4 closed at Rs 52 a kg against Rs 51.50 on Monday. Market sources indicated that the futures' quotations which ruled above Rs 55 a kg for its January contract was influencing the spot market with the result many growers were reluctant to sell their stocks even at the current remunerative price.

The NMCE futures flared up further quoting October delivery at Rs 54.25 a kg against Rs 53.56 on Monday. The November delivery was quoted at Rs 54.75 (54.12), December delivery at Rs 54.90 (54.23) and January delivery at Rs 55.90 (55.45) per kg for RSS 4.

The October futures for RSS 3 improved to 141.5 yen from 138.6 yen a kg at TOCOM.

The spot market rates per kg on Tuesday were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 52 (51.50); RSS 5 Rs 50.50 (50); ungraded Rs 49 (48.50); ISNR 20 Rs 51 (50.50); latex 60 per cent Rs 39.50 (39.50).
