Yuan: The hero turns villain
Given the large trade imbalance between the US and China, a recent US Government report argues that the yuan should be revalued upward. The crux of the issue is that by pegging its currency firmly to the dollar at artificially lower levels, China is virtually subsidising its exports through an exchange rate protectionist policy.
