CONSTRUCTION major Simplex Concrete Piles India Ltd has bagged a Rs 980-crore contract from Nagarjuna Power Corporation for carrying out civil construction works for the company's upcoming 1,015 MW thermal power project at Padubidre near Mangalore.

"We expect to begin work by next month and the Rs 4,500-crore project is slated for completion in 42 months after financial closure is achieved," the Simplex Director, Mr Amitabh Das Mundhra, told Business Line.

The current order book of the company stands at Rs 2,200 crore, Mr Mundhra said.

The company had recently been awarded a Rs 100-crore contract from Qatar Petroleum and a Rs 77-crore for a new jetty at the Adani Port in Gujarat.

Simplex is also executing certain works for the upcoming Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and National Highway Development Programme, apart from the Koodankulam Nuclear power plant and the vehicle assembly building for missile launch at Sriharikota. Simplex aims to become a billion-dollar company over the next decade through both organic and inorganic growth.
