Standards & Benchmarks Call to focus on quality to stay competitive Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Sept. 30 THE Minister for Transport, Mr S. Santosh Reddy, has called for launching a campaign to tap creativity in human resources to prepare them for global competition. "Competition is increasing in the global markets. Technological upgradation is making things obsolete. If we want to keep pace with the fast changing global scenario, we should focus on quality," he said. The Minister was delivering the inaugural address at the two-day 17th annual convention on `Quality circles for global competitiveness' on Thursday. He said that mediation played a key role in improving creative faculties. Mr K. Ganapathy, Executive Director of Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), said that the forum was trying to take the concept beyond cities. "We are going to introduce quality consciousness in rural areas."
NTPC has already agreed to join hands, he added. Mr A. Shyam Mohan, Chairman of QCFI (Hyderabad), said that quality should become an obsession. "It is not just companies and institutes; all segments of society should develop penchant for quality." In a bid to inculcate quality consciousness among the youth, the forum launched a programme targeting school children. At the convention, a number of companies and organisations presented case studies relating their experience in the area of quality code implementation. Two students of BHEL Township would showcase their case study on what quality circles can do for improving standards and results, Mr Shyam Mohan. APSRTC has lined up three case studies, Mr Ch. Balakrishna Rao, Executive Director, said.
