Duty cut on polymers hailed

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Plastic Manufacturers Association has thanked the Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram for reducing the customs duty on polymers from 20 to 15 per cent.

In a press release, the Association said, the international market is still bullish and the industry expected 10 per cent reduction, which would have given some relief to the converter as well as the end user of plastic products. It would have helped in containing inflation, as plastic bags were being used as primary packing and packaging materials for essential commodities.
