LIC invests Rs 40,000 cr in markets during H1

Mumbai , Oct. 12

LIFE Insurance Corporation has invested about Rs 40,000 crore in the securities market during six months ended Sepetember 2004, according to Mr R.N. Bharadwaj, Managing Director, LIC.

"The book value of investments made in the six-month ending September is Rs 40,000 crore, of which, 55 per cent are in the government bonds," he said, speaking at the sidelines of a press conference here on Tuesday.

LIC has invested Rs 6,000 crore in the equity market while net inflows were close to Rs 3,000 crore in April-September, he said.
