Misys to double headcount

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Oct. 19

THE UK-based Misys, which makes financial and healthcare software, is planning to double its headcount in Bangalore to 1,000 by the end of 2005.

The 6,000-people company is planning future people growth mainly in Bangalore, for its development and support, as the company moves to new technology platforms.

Announcing the company's plans, Mr Kevin Lomax, Chairman, said the company was expanding mainly in India and its 2,500-strong development team would grow in Bangalore. Declining to disclose investments in the region, Mr Lomax said the company was looking to move to Java and .Net technologies and had recognised the talent and capabilities available in Bangalore.

The company which had relocated jobs from its Dublin, Ireland, development base a few years ago, said the Bangalore development centre would focus on building entire products, not bits and pieces of them.

The company recently had announced a plan to increase its research and development expenditure by 55 per cent and Mr Lomax said the Bangalore move was part of that effort.
