Andhra Bank to start B-school for officials

ANDHRA Bank has initiated steps towards setting up of a modern business management institute aimed at training the top and middle management personnel in the bank initially and extend training facilities to the entire banking industry at a later stage, its Chairman and Managing Director, Mr T.S. Narayanasami, said.

Announcing this at the Indian School of Business (ISB) here recently, the CMD of Andhra Bank said the bank has recently acquired five acres of land.

He said the ensuing board meeting would finalise the schedule of implementation and the investment outlays.

The Executive Director of Andhra Bank, Mr R. Balakrishnan, said the existing training colleges of the bank, set up for the lower level staff and officials, were busy extending training services to a number of banks spread across the country.

On the new institute, he said the bank was also considering a proposal to go in for co-branding the courses with institutes such as ISB.

According to him, the bank has of late turned aggressive on educational loans and already extended loans to more than 33,000 students worth over Rs 470 crore.
