Public Sector Banks Vijaya Bank sets Rs 43,000-cr business target Our Bureau
Mangalore , Oct. 23 VIJAYA Bank has plans to reach a business target of Rs 43,000 crore by March 31, according to the Assistant General Manager, Mangalore, Mr K. Sadananda Hegde. Participating in the 73rd Founders' Day of the bank at the regional office in Mangalore on Saturday, he said that over 75 per cent of the branch business would be done through core banking platform. The bank has plans to increase the number of branches from 880 to 1,000. He said that 125 new ATMs would be set up and they would be networked through a financial transaction switch. All efforts are being made to cover the eligible agriculturists under kisan card scheme. Thrust is given for investment credit and allied activities for sustained economic transformation in rural areas, he added. The Vice-Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr H.S. Ballal, presented a cheque of Rs 2.28 lakh on behalf of the bank to Medical Relief Society, Mangalore, for upgrading the facilities at Casualty Department at the Government Wenlock Hospital.
