Chennai , Oct. 31

THE new convention centre within the Chennai Trade Centre complex will give an impetus to promoting Chennai as a destination for meetings and conferences. According to a press release, the 1500-seater, air-conditioned centre has been set up at a cost of Rs 26 crore.

The ground floor of the centre covers 6,700 sq m which includes a multi-purpose hall, a stage, banquet hall, reception, lounge, meeting rooms, rest rooms and so on.

The hall can be divided into two equal halves by a sound proof foldable partition. Apart from the main hall, there are about 6 rooms with varying capacities ranging from 25 to 135 participants.

The Chennai Trade Centre is managed by the Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation, a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and the India Trade Promotion Organisation.
