Hyderabad , Nov. 8

HELLOSOFT, a communication technology solutions provider, and Texas Instruments (TI), a designer and supplier of wireless solutions, have announced the rollout of HelloSoft's voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) technology on the latter's platform used in cell phones.

This will enable mobile handset makers to combine TI's processing power with HelloSoft's voice software suite to address the demand for VoIP applications for next generation handsets.

The Chief Executive Officer of HelloSoft, Mr Krishna Yarlagadda, said in a statement, "The TI platform is already a valued application processor for handset providers. The VoIP phone application on this will assist original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in their next generation handset designs to support dual mode functionality such as converged VoWLAN (voice over wireless local area network) or VoIP support over GSM/GPRS/3G."

TI's platform is one of the newest applications processors for cell phones and mobile devices. This offers up to 40 per cent improvement in performance for a variety of applications, while consuming as little as half the power of current TI processors.
