Central Bank H1 net up 21 per cent

CENTRAL Bank of India reported a 21.12 per cent increase in its net profit for the half-year ending September 30 at Rs 331.06 crore compared to Rs 273.33 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Total income moved up by 5.36 per cent to Rs 3,190.19 crore (Rs 3,027.85 crore).

The operating profit moved up by 13.29 per cent to reach Rs 856 crore. Aggregate deposits grew by 10.73 per cent to Rs 57,063 crore, while total advances went up to Rs 26,300 crore to achieve a 15.27 per cent growth rate.

Total investments rose to Rs 31,634 crore from Rs 29,077 crore, a growth of 8.79 per cent over the year-ago period.

The capital adequacy ratio of the bank as on September 30 improved to 13.2 per cent from11.49 per cent in the previous quarter. Net NPAs came down to 4.41 per cent from 6.72 per cent a year ago.
