Electronics IT Parliamentary panel calls for proposals from CMET Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 8 THE Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology has called upon the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (CMET) based here to submit a detailed proposal for upgradation and to meet its expansion plans. The Parliamentary Committee Chairman, Mr M.M. Pallamraju, along with its members met officials of the CMET who explained issues confronting the centre and tax-related matters that impact import and export in the hardware sector. Later, Mr Pallamraju met with officials of the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, and the Department of Posts. The team earlier visited Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Bangalore and interacted with the officials of the Department of Information Technology of respective States along with representatives from the technology industry. Speaking to newspersons here today after concluding meetings with various departments, Mr Pallamraju said the committee received suggestions from Government departments and the industry for the betterment of the IT sector. Based on their suggestions, the committee would submit recommendations. The IT Parliamentary committee comprising Mr K. Ramamohana Rao, Mr Mani Cherenamei, Mr Sanjay Dhotre, Dr P.P. Koya, Col. G. Nizamuddin, Mr Ashok Kumar Rawat and Mr Chandrasekhar Sahu, is slated to call upon the State Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and discuss issues related to IT in the State.
