HUTCHISON Global Communications Ltd, a member of Hutchison Global Communications Holdings Ltd, is eyeing regional partnerships and alliances with telecom carriers to ensure higher quality of data and Internet Protocol-based services across the region.

The Head of Hutchison Global Communications, Mr Andrew Kwok, said, "We believe in cooperation instead of competition as this would benefit from diversity of international transmission route. Therefore, we are talking to operators to bring in such a cooperation. There is a need to partner with regional carriers to remain competitive and provide higher levels of service standards."

"We are on the verge of witnessing a major broadband push in the region and in networks across the world. This would kick up boom in Internet usage and thereby help tap the international bandwidth. With relationships between capacity suppliers and carriers, we would be in a position to maximise broadband investments," Mr Kwok said at a Juniper Networks event.

The Hutchison Group has taken to innovative options of reaching out services that include using powerline technology to compliment broadband work as being tried out in Hong Kong. "When such networks are backed by international sub-sea capacity, as is the case with HGC, we are able to serve more than 40 regional carriers. Therefore, cooperation in the form of alliances and partnerships instead of competition, would become the order of the day. We are talking to several carriers."
