Security Banks told to beef up security system in Dakshina Kannada Our Bureau
Mangalore , Nov. 26 THE Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Mr Aravind Srivastava, has asked the bankers, particularly co-operative banks, to strengthen the security system to safeguard against robbery in banks. Presiding over the district-level Security Committee meeting of bankers in Mangalore on Friday, he said that the banks should strictly follow "Do's and Don't's" in internal security. The lead bank of the district, Syndicate Bank, had organised the meeting. Issues related to security at branches and currency chests, night patrolling, and the problems faced by the banks due to the circulation of fake currency notes were discussed at the meeting. Promising support to the bankers, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Mr Lokesh Kumar, asked them to install auto-diallers and centralised alarm systems to prevent robbery at banks. Police will cooperate with bankers in installing these instruments. Police patrolling at remote branches will be strengthened, he added. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr B.D. D'Souza, requested the bankers to inform police authorities about the bank holidays in advance. The Regional Manager of Syndicate Bank, Mr B.K. Bhat, asked the bankers to have a proper security system at unmanned cash delivery units like ATMs. Bankers should make use of this forum to solve their problems pertaining to security, he added. Bank executives, security officers, bank managers and Regional Fire Officer attended the meeting.
