Public Sector Banks PNB branch in Muvattupuzha Our Bureau
KOCHI: Punjab National Bank has opened its 126th branch in the State at Muvattupuzha near Kochi on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr B.L. Asawa, Deputy Zonal Manager, Kerala, said that PNB has been recognised by the Union Government for the contribution to the overall development of the country, especially for the lending towards SSI/Agriculture sector. The bank's agriculture lending is much above the benchmark and is at 18.76 per cent. The total priority sector advance of the bank is 47 per cent, he said. Earlier, inaugurating the branch, Mr M.A. Zaheer, Chairman, Muvattupuzha Municipality, called upon banks in the State to effectively utilise the funds they are mobilising from Kerala for the development of the State. Mr Johny Neloor, MLA, inaugurating the locker facility urged upon the bank to contribute towards the ongoing developmental activities in and around Muvattupuzha particularly for the development of small business and agricultural sector.
