Airlines India writes to ICAO against night curfew at airports Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec.1 THE days of rushing bleary eyed to the airport in the middle of the night to catch an international flight from India or other countries in the region could soon be a thing of the past. Concerned about congestion, not only at Indian airports and air space, but also in the region mainly on account of night curfew imposed on flights by certain countries in the East and the West, India has written to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) against this practice. "Noise levels of modern aircraft has reduced drastically and the basis of imposing night curfew by some States needs to be reviewed. India has taken up this subject with the ICAO. There is considerable support in this regard," the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, said here.
