Airlines Sharjah-Chennai flight skips Coimbatore Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Dec. 21 INDIAN Airlines' inbound Sharjah-Chennai flight, via Kochi and Coimbatore, today skipped Coimbatore as the flight from Sharjah was grounded at Kochi in the early hours after it reportedly developed engineering snag. (The international flight arriving in Kochi at 2.30 am from Sharjah was to have left Kochi to Coimbatore at 3.30 am and it is scheduled to arrive here at 4.00 am and leave for Chennai by 4.30 am). According to sources at the Peelamedu civil airport and Indian Airlines here, the Airbus A-320 flight was allowed to fly to Chennai from Kochi after the due de-snagging, and passengers bound for Coimbatore were moved by road from Kochi. Some of the passengers who had booked on the flight from Coimbatore to Chennai, were accommodated by the Jet Airways flight later in the day while others opted to cancel their journey, the sources said.
