Bank credit up

MUMBAI: Gross bank credit in the system has gone up by Rs 7,057 crore during the fortnight ended December 10 to touch Rs 10,13,366 crore. This is inclusive of food credit, which rose by Rs 813 crore to touch Rs 43,193 crore, and non-food credit, which went up by Rs 6,244 crore to touch Rs 9,70,173 crore, according to the RBI.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds commercial paper, etc, increased by Rs 1,57,908 crore to touch Rs 10,62,022 crore for the fortnight ended December 10.
