Tsunami on the east coast

While it is admitted that nature's fury may be unleashed, unprecedented on unsuspecting people, the present feeling of all pervading helplessness cannot be rationalised in this age of technology and instant communication.

The Department of Ocean Development was created with much fanfare two decades ago and the least that could have been done was to have a series of tidal gauges and warning points across the ocean far beyond the Andamans.
