Biodiversity conservation meet at Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute of Thiruvananthapuram (TBGRI) and the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy (IAAT) are organising a conference on `New frontiers in plant taxonomy and biodiversity conservation' in the city from December 29 to December 31.

Addressing a press conference in the city on Tuesday, Dr G.M. Nair, Director, TBGRI, said that the annual conference of IAAT would also be held as part of the event. Delegates from across the country and other parts of the world are expected to participate in the event.

TBGRI, which will celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2005, is also planning a series of seminars, lectures, discussions and public awareness programmes to mark this anniversary, Dr Nair added.
