AP farmers to get certified seeds

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government would supply 10.91 lakh quintals of certified quality seed to farmers in the ensuing kharif season, with a seed replacement ratio of 27.31 per cent.

According to the State Minister for Agriculture, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, the entire seed to be made available during kharif 2005 would be of certified quality unlike in the past, when contingency procurement was done and seed lifted from private godowns too.

Mr Reddy told presspersons here on Wednesday that 8.84 lakh quintals of paddy, 1.08 lakh quintals of groundnut, 74,000 quintals of soyabean, 20,240 quintals of pulses and 2,842 quintals of castor seed would be supplied to farmers.
