Sesame exporters bag 3,731-t order from South Korea

Dhimant Bhatt

Mumbai , Jan. 12

SESAME exporters have bagged 52 per cent or 3,731 tonnes of the total export orders of 6,731 tonnes from South Korea, beginning this year.

The order was awarded to four merchant exporters across the country.

Of this, Awadh Exports and Hanuman Industries — two Gujarat-based private companies that belong to one business group — bagged about 2,000 tonnes of three different qualities.

"Because of the price advantage and good quality, we have bagged such a sizeable order. South Korea is a regular buyer of Indian sesame seed," Mr Bharat Sonpal, proprietor of Hanuman Industries told Business Line.

The contracts involve supply of three different grades — normal white, mixed and crushing quality at C&F price for February shipment.

The deal was struck at $897 per tonne for the normal grade, $949.50-957 a tonne for mixed and $710-765 tonne for crushing grade.
