New technology at KPL mills

KOCHI: The R&D department of Irinjalakkuda-based KPL Oil Mills Pvt Ltd, manufacturers of KPL Shudhi Coconut Oil, has introduced a new technology in the manufacture of coconut oil.

The process is called DDR Technology (De-aerated De-moisturised Roasting Technology) and its advantages are sweet smell, golden colour, natural and 20 per cent more economical. The new technology along with OHO made expellers and with centrifugal filtering will give superior aroma and golden colour to the coconut oil, Mr K.J. Pious, Chairman said at a press meet.

As part of product diversification, the company is planning to introduce natural vinegar from coconut water soon. It had already introduced coconut powder. The company had a turnover of Rs 60 crore, which would touch Rs 100 crore by next year, Mr Joshua Anto, Managing Director said.
