Tea Tea advisory panel discusses action plan Our Bureau
Kolkata , Jan. 28 AT its first meeting held in Kolkata on Thursday, the newly formed Tea Advisory Committee (TAC) discussed several aspects of the tea industry. The high-powered committee has been formed to monitor implementation of the action plan prepared at the Stakeholders Conference held in New Delhi on September 16-17 last year. Mr C.K. Dhanuka, Chairman of Indian Tea Association, who is a member of the TAC, said that the members more or less "took stock" of the whole situation in the tea industry." All the 25 points identified in action plan were discussed." The committee is a 31-member body. Apart from Mr Dhanuka, Mr D.P. Maheswari, Chairman, Tea Committee of Upasi, Mr K.S. David, Chairman of Darjeeling Planters Association; Mr Suresh Bansal, President of Tea Association of India, and Mr D.N. Baruah, Chairman of Assam Tea Planters Association, are also on the panel which is headed by the Additional Secretary (Plantations) in the Union Commerce Ministry.
