Kolkata , Feb. 2

AN eight-member business delegation led by Infocom Development Authority of Singapore (iDA) on Wednesday visited the city to explore business opportunities in West Bengal.

The delegation included representatives from four top ranking IT firms including CrimsonLogic, CET Technologies, E-Cop and Singapore Engineering Securities (SES) working in areas related to e-governance, info-security and bio-informatics.

Addressing an interactive session organised by CII, representatives of CrimsonLogic and E-Cop — experts in e-governance and information security respectively — expressed an interest in funding business partners and setting up shop in the city. CrimsonLogic had particularly expressed its interest in the e-governance initiative of the State and held a meeting with Government officials in this regard.

"The objective of my visit is to identify a firm a set up a development centre in India", said Mr Oliver Tan, director of E-Cop. Mr Leong Fook Lim, Director of CET Technologies, had also expressed his interest in doing business with India.

Mr N S Somasekhar, senior consultant to iDA, said that the bilateral relationship between the two countries would improve further following finalisation of a free trade agreement. "Currently, 300 Indian IT firms are operating from Singapore. It is now our turn to bring companies from Singapore to India," he added.
