New Products & Services MSN launches new search engine Our Bureau
New Delhi , Feb. 3 MSN has launched its new search engine in India and is likely to follow it up with local language versions. Earlier, Microsoft used Yahoo's third party search engine for its portal. When asked if MSN plans to launch its search engine in any Indian language, Mr Krishna Prasad, Head of Programming at Microsoft Corporation (India), said, "By this year-end, you could see some announcements in this regard (search engine in Indian languages)." MSN is studying the overall readership of various Indian languages to find out the most widely read languages. Currently, the new version of MSN search is available in 25 countries and 10 languages. Microsoft worked for about two years to develop the new search engine and the Hyderabad-based India Development Centre of Microsoft had also contributed towards it. "Development teams from all over world contributed to the development of the search engine. The Indian team worked on its tool bar," Mr Prasad said.
