KSEB plans for Cherthala town

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to tone up power transmission and distribution system in Cherthala town in Alappuzha at a cost of over Rs 2.48 crore.

A KSEB spokesman said here that the 11-kV transmission lines would be drawn over a stretch of 25 km and 23 new transformers installed as part of the programme. The Cherthala Section office of the KSEB will be computerised as well.

The programme will help reduce the transmission and distribution loss in the area by at least six percentage points. The voltage position too is expected to improve. Fifty per cent of the expenses on this programme will be borne by the Centre. Half of it is in the form of grant and the rest a soft loan.
