CCEA clears Rs 829 cr for ICMR's 10th Plan programmes

THE Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved Rs 828.66 crore, which includes an expenditure of Rs 226 crore already incurred in the first two years of the Tenth Plan for the Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) programmes.

Ten key deliverables include complementing a national health policy by formulating a health research policy, product development and evaluation, conducting fundamental and strategic research, databases/registries among others.

The approval of the Tenth Plan programme of ICMR will result in augmentation of its own institutions/research centres and undertaking of focused research in identified areas.
