Castorseed meet to discuss crop outlook

THE Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) is organising the third national seminar on `Castorseed crop prospects & price outlook', to be held at the World Trade Centre (Mumbai) on February 17.

The report on castor crop survey conducted in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh by AC Nielsen ORG-MARG (Mumbai) will be presented at the seminar and followed by the panel discussion on `Castor oil price outlook' by eminent speakers from the industry, according to SEA press release.

India is the world leader in the production of castor seeds and meets 90 per cent of the world requirement of castor oil.

Castor oil industry, an integral part of the vegetable oil industry and trade, is an important export earner in the country with an average export turnover of around Rs 700 crore per annum.

Castor is an export driven industry with more than 80 per cent of its production finding its way in global markets.
