AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad-based Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd has tied up with AstraZeneca for research aimed at discovering a drug for the treatment of hypertension.

Under the agreement, the Rs 513-crore Torrent and AstraZeneca will fund the research jointly. It involves success-based milestone payments to Torrent and royalties on the drug after commercialisation, a Torrent release said here on Monday. Torrent would also get co-marketing rights for the product for the country. The companies, however, did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
