New Delhi , Feb. 25

RECOGNISING the growing demand for skilled IT manpower, NIIT on Friday announced a range of specialised education programmes to provide a cutting-edge career start to engineering and IT students.

"The new offerings comes at a time when the shortage of `right skilled IT manpower' has become a issue for HR Managers. The latest Nasscom Strategic Review has estimated that the total demand for IT services and software professionals in 2007-08 is estimated to exceed 1.1 million," an NIIT release said here.

According to Mr Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, NIIT, "Our new initiative, designed exclusively for engineering and IT students, will help create the base of specialised manpower that the country needs today."
