`Bachawat Award flouted'

HYDERABAD: The Minister for Major Irrigation, Mr P. Lakshmaiah, informed the Legislative Assembly on Friday that Karnataka and Maharashtra were constructing irrigation projects on River Manjeera violating the Bachawat Award.

Replying to queries during the Question Hour, the Minister said that the State Government was raising the issue at various fora including Parliament and the Union Ministry of Water Resources. It has requested the Governments of Maharashtra and Karnataka to furnish details in this regard.
