Tea Dusts in demand at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Feb. 27 A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 9,99,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good liquoring and popular CTCs steady to dearer by Rs 1-2. Poor quality CTCs tended to ease, while orthodox grades steady to dearer. According to details made available by Forbes, Ewart & Figgis, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 58 and Rs 65, medium CTC realised Rs 53-56 and below medium by Rs 38-47. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 99 and Rs 106, while medium BOPD realised Rs 41-45. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 34-39. The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,49,000 kg. Highgrown, primarily bolder grades, were higher. Smaller brokens and fannings barely steady to irregularly easier. CTCs steady to dearer. Exporters were active on good quality orthodox grades. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 65 and Rs 88, medium orthodox realised Rs 45-61. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 50 and Rs 53, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 45-51. In the dust category, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 106, followed by Craigmore Cl.BOPD by Rs 99. In the leaf varieties, Chamraj FOP-Sup realised the best prices of Rs 186 followed by Glendale ClBOP.S by Rs 182.
