Hyderabad , Feb. 27

THE Centre has decided to digitise hundreds of thousands of manuscripts and graphic details on diverse cultural forms of the country.

Announcing this at the valedictory of the tenth National Youth Festival here, Mr S. Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Culture, said the digitised content would be made available for downloading from any part of the world.

The idea was to preserve and conserve the country's rich and diverse cultural heritage. No other country in the world, including China, had such variety and diversity in culture, Mr Jaipal Reddy said.

"Diversity is no weakness. In fact, it is our strength," he said.

Stating that 40 per cent of the country's population was youth, he said festivals like these were aimed at bringing them together."Bringing together of youth means bringing together the country," he said. About 2,000 youths from various States took part in the five-day festival.
