Eveready launches rechargeable batteries

Chennai , March 10

EVEREADY Industries on Thursday launched its NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries.

The batteries, which can be recharged up to a 1,000 times, can be used in digital cameras, MP3 players, personal cassette and CD players.

Mr Saurav Z. Medhi, Senior General Manager (Rechargeable Business), Eveready Industries India Ltd, told newspersons that the batteries were imported and the company would think of manufacturing in India only when a critical mass is achieved.

The batteries will be available in a pack of two costing Rs 250.

The company has also introduced a `quick charger' that can charge both `AA' and `AAA' rechargeable batteries.
