VISAKHAPATNAM: Cloud-seeding operations will be taken up in the State from the first week of June for the kharif crop, said the Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy.

The minister was here on Saturday to participate in the regional conference of agricultural officers. He told reporters that the mistakes in cloud-seeding operations last year would not be repeated.

He said Rs 40 crore had been allocated this year for cloud-seeding and the Centre had been requested for more funds. It will be taken up 10 drought-prone districts of Telangana and Rayalaseema regions in the first phase. The issue will be discussed with Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar.
