Row over irrigation projects

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Congress Government has criticised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for putting spokes into efforts to ground irrigation projects.

The Minister for Major Irrigation, Mr P. Lakshmaiah, criticised the TDP for writing an open letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr Mohan Kanda, raising nine questions on the ongoing controversy over pre-qualification tenders to the irrigation projects in the State.

Mr Kanda headed the high-powered committee appointed by the Government to take care of the major irrigation projects.

The Minister told newspersons that works related to 56 packages in category two had been grounded. The remaining 18 too would be grounded in two days.
