TCS packages for pharma sector

Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 18

TATA Consultancy Services has two new offerings in store for the pharma and clinical trials market.

The clinical trials management system is a package that provides automated IT support for companies undertaking clinical trials.

The other package is for clinical data management or to handle the data that is generated from a trial, Mr J. Rajagopal, TCS' Director-Global Life Sciences & Health Care Practice, told mediapersons.

He denied that TCS had any plans to directly get into clinical research or human trials.

The mandate to the company is to provide product solutions to pharma and healthcare companies undertaking clinical trials and TCS has been doing that for sometime now, he said.

While a bulk of this activity is from overseas, he said, that the segment contributes about four per cent of TCS' total sales.
