General Insurance Insurance unions plan strike on March 23, 24 Our Bureau
Kochi , March 20 OFFICERS and employees of the public sector general insurance companies have threatened to go on strike on March 23 and 24 demanding resumption of wage revision talks and beginning of promotion exercise at the earliest. The unions under the banner of the All India Insurance Employees Association, General Insurance Employees Association, National Federation of General Insurance Employees, National Confederation of General Insurance Officers Association and General Insurance Officers All India Association said that agitation was against the indifferent attitude of the General Insurers Public Sector Association (GIPSA), the management body of the four public sector general insurance companies. The vital issue of wage revision has been pending for more than two years. Mr P.P. Mohanan, Convenor of the Joint Action Committee of General Insurance Officers and Employees, said that according to GIPSA, there was no scope for wage revision beyond the proposed level of 8.5 per cent already offered by the management.
